The Oscars 2012: Best Dressed

Okay, so I know I just recently did a post of best dressed, but this is The Oscars, how can I not do one again?!  I mean the red carpet coverage only started hours and hours before the actual show!  The Oscars for me are more about who wore what than who won what considering I usually have only seen a few of the movies nominated.  This year I think there were many people who could make the best dressed list rather than the worst, but here were a few of my favorites.

Michelle Williams, even though she may not have won an Oscar, she definitely wowed the red carpet.   Her dress was by Louis Vuitton.  I think sometimes going for such a bright color can put you on the worst dress list, but she looked gorgeous is this coral color.

Octavia Spencer also dazzled…literally!  She wore a beautifully hand-beaded gown by Tadashi Shoji.

And for the fashion risk I think that paid off the most…Gwyneth Paltrow.  I would have never thought that wearing a cape would make any outfit look good, but Gwyneth could pull it off…flawlessly.   And when she took off the cape to present an award, her dress on its own was still flawless.  This Tom Ford dress/cape combo was a winner.

Who was on your best dressed list?

Designer Collaborations

Jason Wu for Target

I feel like more and more lately there have been many designer collaborations with stores.  Most recently, Jason Wu for Target that launched the beginning of the month.   These designer collaborations allow bargain hunters to buy popular high-end brands for less.

Missoni for Target

I remember the craziness of the Missoni for Target line back in the fall.  People waited in lines to get into Target, and much of the items were sold out on the first day. Target's website even crashed with so many people trying to go on and buy items.   I know I went the second day Target had Missoni for Target and almost everything was sold out at the store I went to. I watched people pick up every item that was Missoni for Target and put it in their cart, almost as if they didn’t care what they were buying, all that matter was the Missoni name. (I can’t say I wasn’t guilty of this as well, but I didn’t buy anything I didn’t need.)

H&M is another store that has participated in designer collaborations.   They recently had Versace for H&M Cruise Collection.

Designer collaborations are a great way to save money while still being very fashionable.

Do you like these designer collaborations? Do you think they should continue?

Colors and Color Blocking…Are You Ready to Try It?

With spring right around the corner (hopefully!), I thought I would talk about a hot trend for spring, lots of color and color blocking.

I LOVE the color-blocking look!  I especially love color blocking with royal blue and Kelly green.

Many celebrities have already been sporting the color-blocking trend.

BCBG Max Azria even continued this trend for fall during New York Fashion Week last week.

The other trend for spring is just color in general.  The most popular colors are coral, hot pink, yellow, and tangerine.

Are you going to add a pop of color to your wardrobe for spring?  Will you try the color blocking trend?

Best Dressed at the SAG Awards

Well yesterday were the SAG Awards and because of that I thought I would give you my opinion on who was best dressed.  The SAG Awards allow actors to let loose a little more with what they where and have fun.

Here are a few of my favorites….

Sofia Vergara wore a beautiful hot pink Marchesa gown.  She really showed how actors and actresses can have fun at the SAG Awards with the color of her dress, accessories, and by wearing her hair in a ponytail.

Viola Davis was also wearing Marchesa.  I don’t think anyone can ever be on a worst dressed list in a Marchesa gown. Ever.  Her gold accessories with the gold detailing…perfect.

Diane Lane wore a simple, elegant gown by David Meister.  Diane, just like Sofia, wore her hair in a ponytail as well.  Definitely a trend of the night.

Stacy Keibler is wearing what do you know, Marchesa as well.  Her dress is all lace with a cap sleeve.   (Obviously by now you can tell that I love Marchesa gowns.)  Her drop earrings are the perfect accessory to this dress.  (And incase anyone was wondering what Mr. Clooney was wearing, his tux was Giorgio Armani.)

And now for the person who I wish I could say was on my best dressed list, but her choker necklace mistake did not allow me to put her there, Kristen Wiig.

She wore a Balenciaga dress.  I absolutely loved everything about her look but her choker.  I think it was too much for the high neck of her dress.

Who were your best/worst dressed at the SAG Awards?

My First Blog Post

Wow.  I can’t really believe I am writing my first blog.  Blogging is something I thought I would never do.  Never say never I guess.

I guess I should tell you a little about myself and this blog.  My name is Chelsea and I’m currently a college student.  My whole reason for this blog is because of school for my Social Media Strategy class.

Everything to do with fashion I love.  From clothes, to shoes, to new trends, accessories, designers, you name it.   My love for fashion is the reason for the idea behind my blog.   I will talk about anything and everything fashion related in my blog!

Breathe. Live. Fashion.
